Bath & Body Works Sea Island Cotton

Hi Vixen,

Today I will do a review about two products that I currently bought. These are Bath and Body Works Sea Island Cotton Fine Fragrance Mist and Body Lotion.

Bath and Body Works Sea Island Cotton Fine Fragrance Mist

From the website:
“Introducing our NEW Fine Fragrance Mist. Our beautiful, sophisticated new bottle features a Fine Fragrance pump for a more delicate mist and improved coverage control. Lavishly spritz on your body to lightly scent your skin with our exclusive Sea Island cotton, a clean scent inspired by pure white cotton flowing in fresh ocean air.”

Top Notes: Fresh Bright Floral Accord, Clean Cotton Accord, Drenched Air Accord, Fresh Linen Effect, Wet Green Pear, Blood Orange, Tangerine
Mid Notes: White Muguet, Crisp Orange Flower, Watery Cyclamen, White Freesia, Cotton Blossom Headspace, Dewy Jasmine
Dry Notes: Clean Powder, White Musk, Sandalwood, Vanilla Absolute
Aloe conditions and nourishes skin

I believe this is the new packaging of their body spray, I must say I love it. Their old bottle just a plain clear plastic bottle, this one is cuter! Bright and colorful. Sea Island Cotton particularly has a peacock feather design on the bottle. So pretty and girly. The nozzle works well, but I don’t feel any difference from their old packaging. It feels the same.

The packaging definitely win me, but how about the smell? I blindly purchased it, without smelling it first, and unfortunately this is not my favorite, some people might like it but not me. To me it just smells like laundry detergent.  Sharp and powdery. Nothing sweet, nothing fruity, nothing sexy, just a clean detergent scent.

Don’t get me wrong, I love other BBW scent like Warm Vanilla Sugar, Sweet Pea, and Japanese Cherry Blossom, but Sea Island Cotton is just not my cup of tea. I'm going to use it as laundry freshener :)

Bath and Body Works Sea Island Cotton Body Lotion

The texture is just lovely. Creamy and moisturizing without being oily. My skin feels great after using it. Just the perfect consistency. The downside is, same like the body spray, I don't enjoy the smell :( I wish the scent could have been sweeter. Not straight up detergent.

So have you tried Sea Island Cotton? what do you think of them? what is your favorite scent from BBW? tell me in the comment below.

Holy Grail Product Review: Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk

Hi Vixen,

Today I will review one hair product that changes my entire life! It seriously makes my life easier! It is Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk.

I have a fine texture hair but a lot of it.  The scalp gets oily easily, the ends are dry. Wash my hair become a hard work for me, it takes a very long time to air-dried, if I decide to sleep with wet hair, in the morning it still be damp and oily. Dry my hair with hair dryer take a long time, about 45 minutes! It seriously a lot of work.

Before using this dry shampoo, I washed my hair once a day. If I don’t, my hair gets really oily and nasty looking. I have tried to ‘train’ my hair for about 4-5 months. Washing it every other day or every 3 days on the weekend.  It didn’t work out. My hair still produces a lot of oil.

After I used this dry shampoo, I can wash my hair every other day. I use this dry shampoo between hair washing. Very much helpful, I just shake the can, spray it to my scalp and hair (not too close!), then brush it.

I just love this product! Let me show you the pros and cons

Pros

It gives my oily scalp more volume
It removes the appearance of oily hair
      It doesn’t give me a product build-up
It doesn’t give me a white residue

Cons

Not really a ‘con’ but I wish it has better scent. I wish it could mask the smell of dirty hair (ewww!)
Quickly run out. Maybe after a 4 weeks it completely gone.  It is pretty expensive for me. The last time I paid SGD $ 13.95  for this product. But it is very much worth it for me.

So, have you ever tried this product? What is your favorite dry shampoo? What supposedly better dry shampoo than Klorane? Tell me on the comment below.

MAC Divine Desire ‘Quite Coral’ Kit

Hi Vixen,Today I will do a review about MAC Divine Desire Kit in color ‘Quite Coral’. I ask my aunt to get it for me in Singapore and she said it cost her SGD $ 125 in Tang’s ( 125 x 7910 = Rp 988.750,- for me that’s expensive!).

I believe you can get it cheaper in Changi Airport, or you can buy it in some department stores there, fill the GST form and get a 7 % return tax later in Changi.

This kit contains ‘Photogravure’ (Technakohl Liner, deep chocolate brown), ‘Born to Love’ (blush, coral), travel size of 129 SE blush brush, ‘In a Heartbeat’ (Lipstick, pale clean coral), ‘Pure Flattery’ (Lipglass, soft coral cream),  other than that you get a cushiony re-useable pale peach clutch and a black orange satin bag. You can use the clutch to a casual party and the black orange satin bag for travel. If we count those two then this set has more value than the products alone. Not that bad, you get 5 products and 2 containers.

MAC Technakohl Liner in ‘Photogravure’

This is a deep chocolate brown eyeliner. It has a good color pay-off and can be layered easily. My problem is because I have such an oily skin and very small space eyelid this eyeliner smudge easily on me.

MAC Frost Blush in ‘Born to Love’

It is listed as ‘frost’ on the packaging, usually my favorite blush from MAC are ‘matte’ and ‘satin’, I’m afraid it will be too sparkly for me, but fortunately it doesn’t. I will describe this blush as medium coral with gold-champagne shimmer in it. It has a medium pigmentation, not too sheer, not too heavy and it has a little bit shimmer which gives me a nice glow. Not too over the top for casual wear.

MAC 129 SE Blush Brush (Travel Size)

I find this brush kind of a little bit scratchy but it’s ok. Sometime I feel like too soft brush doesn’t pack on color very good. This one is perfect for traveling.

MAC  Crèmesheen Lipstick in ‘In a Hearthbeat’

No flash
With flash
Crèmesheen is my favorite finish from MAC. Creamy with a hint smell of vanilla, I love it! This particular color looks really coral in the tube, but when applied on the lip it turns out to be quite sheer. If you want a more opaque look then you can layer it a few times until you get the intensity you want.

MAC Lipglass in ‘Pure flattery’

No flash
With flash
I will describe it as a soft coral with a hint of multicolor shimmer, it gives me a medium coverage. It is kind of sticky, so some people might not enjoy it.

Overall, even though this kit is kind of pricey, I will say everything is worth it. Good products, adorable packaging. I will use everything that came with it.

So what do you think? Do you interested in trying this kit? Do you have one product that include in this kit? What you think about them? Tell me on the comment below.

Singapore Haul + Review Part 2: Bioderma, Bio Oil, Tresemme, Clinique

Hi all,
Today I will do a review about the rest of products I got in Singapore. You can read my part 1 here

Bio Oil

From their website:

"Bio‑Oil is a specialist skincare oil that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. It is also effective for aging and dehydrated skin. Bio‑Oil has won 85 skincare awards and has become the No.1 selling scar and stretch mark product in 11 countries since its global launch in 2002."

This is a repurchase for me. I got it for the first time in Australia. I think the price is cheaper in Singapore. I love this product.

Price: S $ 15.50

Bioderma Sensibio H20

From Bioderma website:

Method of Action:
At the cutting edge of innovation, BIODERMA has pioneered micellar solutions. Specially formulated for sensitive, normal to dry skins, the Sensibio H2O micelle solution gently cleanses face and eyes. It removes water-resistant make-up.
The micelles contained in its formula effectively micro-emulsify impurities while maintaining the skin’s balance (soap-free, physiological pH).

Soothing and decongesting active ingredients prevent the feelings of irritation often caused by cleansing.

Sensibio H2O guarantees excellent cutaneous and ocular tolerance (tested under ophthalmological supervision).

Directions for use:
Sensibio H2O is an ultra-mild cleansing formula, use it with the utmost care.
Soak a cotton pad with Sensibio
H2O and cleanse the face and eyes and/or remove any make-up.
Repeat the application until the cotton pad remains clean.

Sensibio H2O needs no rinsing, but it is essential to dry your skin. Dry gently. Dab your face with a clean cotton towel.

Sensibio H2O can be used daily, morning and evening.

Models backstage using this product, Youtube gurus recommend it, makeup artists swear by this French brand, Bioderma is very popular now.

So far I like this product to cleanse my face. It does a wonderful job taking off my foundation and concealer.  It leaves my skin fresh and clean, without nasty oil residue. Like the name, it just like water! an amazing water.

For eye makeup? That’s a different story. I don’t think it works well taking off my waterproof mascara and eyeliner. I need so much product! Need so many rubbing to finally being able to take them off. It just too much effort, I prefer my L’oreal Eye and Lip Makeup Remover to do that. I prefer a more oil base product to clean my waterproof makeup.

Price: S $ 12.70

Tresemme Dry Shampoo

I love Klorane Dry Shampoo, when I found out this Tresemme one was bigger and slightly cheaper, I bought it without hesitation. Turn out this product is not working for me. Bad, bad, bad dry shampoo. When sprayed to my roots it feels wet and sticky, even when I sprayed sparingly. When dries out it leaves a nasty white residue on my hair which really hard to brush out. I will not buy this again, not recommend it to other people.

Price: S $ 13.90

Clinique Pore Refining Solution Hydrator

From Clinique website:
“After mattifying instantly, this oil-free formula supplies needed hydration while curbing excess oil and shine for 8 hours. Even T-Zones feel fresh, stay comfortably matte. Instantly refines the look of pores with unique light-scattering optics. Over time, pores seem smaller. Non-acnegenic.”

An impulse buys at the airport and until now I still have a mixed feeling about this product. For me it just likes a regular moisturizer for oily skin. It a does a great job mattifying my face, gives a nice silky feel, light and easy to absorb, seems quite good controlling oil, but it doesn’t refine my pore like its claiming to be and sometimes I find this product not moisturizing enough. For a price like this I expect something better.

S $ 58

So have you tried any of this product? What do you think about them? Do you have any suggestion for dry shampoo or face cleanser? Tell me on the comment below.

Mini Haul and Review: L’occitane Rose Des Champs Solid Perfume Charm and Pearl Hand Cream

Hi Vixen,
Originally I went to L’occitane to buy 2 things as a birthday gift for someone, but when I was in the store I couldn’t resist to pick up something else for myself. So I bought this 2 things:

L’occitane Rose Des Champs Solid Perfume Charm

Pros:
Look how adorable is the tiny packaging, I can use this solid perfume charm as my key chain. I can bring this little thing with me everywhere. But it’s not only the packaging that made me like it, the smell of Rose Des Champs is totally pretty!!! Rosy, a little bit citrusy, perfectly fresh and happy, you should try it when you go to L’occitane store. Originally I want the eau de toilette but I’m on budget so I picked the solid perfume instead.

Cons:
Unlike the eau de toilette version, this solid perfume doesn’t have a strong sillage, I feel like I only can smell it when I put my nose close to my skin. Another minus is I have to dip my finger inside the pot I’m afraid that this could be a little unhygienic, a perfect place for bacteria to breeds.
But overall I’m in love with this tiny charm!

Price: Rp 160.000,- for 7 gr

L’occitane Rose Des Champs Pearl Hand Cream

Look at those tini pink dots. It is a rose bush oil pearls.
Pros:
Again, small and convenient packaging, perfect for travel. Contains adorable tiny pink dots inside the cream,  it’s a rose bush oil pearls that melt when I rub it on my palm. The cream itself is light to medium thickness, not overly sticky or oily when used. Perfect for a hot day when I don’t want heavy hand cream.

Cons:
Might be not moisturizing enough fot extra dry hand.

Price:  Rp 113.000,- for 30 ml

Overall I am really satisfied with my purchase. Have you tried a product from L’occitane Rose Des Charm line? What is your favorite solid perfume? What is your favorite hand cream? Tell me in the comment below.

Singapore Beauty Haul Part 1: Lush

Hi Vixen, last week I spent a weekend in Singapore and purchased some Lush beauty stuff. I never tried Lush products before so I’m really excited. Let’s see what I got

1. Lush Tea Tree Water

From Lush Singapore website:
“Ah, tea tree: how do we love thee? Tea tree is extremely soothing and can work wonders on troubled or oily skin. We’ve also added juniper berry and grapefruit waters to refresh and gently tone with natural oils. Use this throughout the day to help tackle blemishes and lift your spirits.”

Let me tell you how excited I am to finally be able to try Lush products. ‘Homemade’, ‘organic’, and ‘vegan’ are the words that come to my mind when I think about Lush. Too bad Lush products are unavailable in Indonesia.

This product, Tea Tree Water is a spray toner, I use about 2-3 sprays after I wash my face. I say after try this product for a few days I can tell that my skin become less oily, which is great for me. It soothing and refreshing. However I do have small blemishes and this Tea Tree Water hasn’t helped me on that case. But to be honest, I haven’t found an acne product that really does wonder to my skin. The smell of this product is not that great, it’s ok though, I still can handle it. Overall I still think Lush Tea Tree water is a good product nonetheless.

Price: S$ 26.00 / 250g

2. Lush ‘Therapy’ Massage Bar

From Lush Singapore website:
“Euphoria-inducing bar with uplifting neroli. Therapy is a wunder-bar. First, it oisturizes with cocoa and shea butters to make your skin softer. Then, it eases your tensions with lavender and neroli oils – neroli is the one that gives you a feeling of euphoria, especially when you have someone massaging it into your shoulders. Give therapy a try and you’ll feel better in no time. 100% Certified Organic.”

I’m in love with this thing, it makes me want to try other type of Lush massage bar, it just amazing! Massage bar is a moisturizer in a solid form which is fun idea. Very convenient to tote around. Before I use it, I warm and rub it on my clean palm then massage it on my skin (make sure your skin is clean, you don’t want your massage bar become nasty ground for breeding bacteria). Smells very relaxing, like something I would smell in expensive spa. I will definitely continue to buy this product.

Price: S$ 23.00 / 65g

3. Lush Massage Bar Tin

From Lush Singapore Website:
“Keep your Massage Bar in a smart new Lush tin and you can slip it into your overnight bag (complete with Fever bar) when you're off for a romantic weekend. Take Therapy when you've got a relaxing massage booked and hand it to your masseur. It fits Therapy- Fever- Each Peach and Two's a Pear.”

I use it to keep my Therapy Massage Bar. Very retro looking.

S$ 10.00 / 10g

4. Lush Twilight Bath Bomb

From Lush Singapore website:
“That moment when the sun starts setting into the night sky, painting it with vibrant hues of orange and purple before being peppered with sparkling stars, is a wonder that we pause to admire with those we love. Recreate twilight in your bath water with clouds of lavender, ylang ylang and ovaltine to soothe body and mind. If you're stressed out, hugely overwhelmed or just plain exhausted, Twilight is the gentle, reassuring hug that leaves you feeling like everything's going to be okay. It's our most relaxing Bath Bomb yet, transforming you from one of the Sullens into a member of the living.”

In my opinion, probably bath bombs are the most popular and unique product from Lush. You throw this ‘bomb’ into your bath up, it will fizz, turn your water into fun color, contains fun things inside like flower petals, herbs, spices, leaves, glitters, toys, so many things :D

Because I don’t have a bath up, I gave it to someone else as a gift.

Price: S$ 11.00 / 180g

5. Lush  French Kiss Bubble Bar

From Lush Singapore website:
“Perfumes from Provence: inspiration from a Parisian patisserie. A French Kiss gives you a relaxed but alert feeling that lasts all day. We're talking about our Bubble Bar, so keep your minds clean! The Lush French Kiss is a calming and reviving lavender, rosemary and thyme bath, with essential oils from sun-soaked Provence. It's even topped with a sprig of lavender flowers. Relax in its purple waters and soak up all its benefits.”

The girl in the store told me to break this bubble bar in a half, crumble it under running water. It supposed to create a lot of bubbles, change the water color into purple, and relax your mind with lavender scent. Like I said before, too bad I don’t have bath up. I can’t tell you how much bubbles that appear, how long lasting they are, how moisturizing this product will be, etc.

I gave this product to someone as a gift. That person said, the whole room smells like this product :D

S$ 15.00 / 100g

So these are my Lush haul. Have you ever tried any other products from Lush? Do you want to try something from Lush? Tell me on the comment below.

Aspirin and Lemon Juice Face Mask

Just a quick blog post for you all Vixen out there,

My skin is getting 'emotional' lately. My face is getting really dry, but blemishes appearing up on my neck. How is that possible?

Anyway, a few days ago I read something online about Dr Oz’s Viewer Home Remedies. It is an aspirin and lemon juice face mask. The main ingredient of aspirin is salicylic acid which helps to remove acne and pimples since it is like a chemical peel. The lemon juice has vitamin C and helps minimize sun damage to your skin. Sounds great and easy enough for me, I have the ingredients on hand.

So I mix 2 tablets of uncoated aspirin with a tea spoon of freshly squezee lemon juice. Apply the mixture to my neck with a clean face mask brush.

Oh My Lord! It did sting! it did burn! I think that because I have tendency to scratch my skin with my fingers so I have minor cuts here and there (bad...don't follow). SoI ran into the bathroom, splashed some cold water on my neck, rubbed all the residue off.

I have to tell you that rubbing was not the ideal way to remove this mask off. The aspirin was very abrasive! My skin was getting so sore. Later I got back to the internet. Googled the recipe again, apparently I need to remove the face mask by dipping a cotton ball in some baking soda and some water. Baking soda works great at the end to neutralize the salicylic acid.

Rubbing was probably the mistake I made, if I had known it, I would have used a soft washcloth to remove the mask.

Well, the process didn't sound so pleasant but the result is great! wow...after a few minutes and all the redness gone, I feel like my skin is getting smoother, some acne is getting dry, weird...like my raw acne is getting cooked or something...now some blemishes turning white, so I can extract it easily (popping acne is bad, but I do it anyway).

So it was my experience, have you ever try to make aspirin and lemon juice mask? what is the best way to get rid of acne? tell me on the comment below.

Victoria's Secter Bombshell Eau de Parfum

Hello Bombshell! today I will do review about this fragrance (It is my Mom's but it has been sitting on my vanity table for a few days ). So let's get started

From Victoria's Secret website:

" Perfect for on-the-go beauty, day or night. Sexy today. Sexy tomorrow. Sexy forever. Embrace your inner bombshell with this FiFi® Award-winning eau de parfum from our Victoria’s Secret Bombshell fragrance collection. A glamorous blend of purple passion fruit, Shangri-la peony and vanilla orchid. Spray on for scent that lingers."

Describe in three words: Fresh, clean, and pretty

What does it smells like?

Top Notes: Tangerine, Grapefruit, Pineapple, Srtawberry, & Passionfruit
Middle Notes: Jasmine, Red Berries, Lily of the Valley, Peony, & Vanilla Orchid
Base Note: Musk, Woody Notes, Oakmoss

It is exacly smells the same like Salvatore Ferragamo 'Incanto Shine'! like a flower petal coated with a sweet candy! fresh, light, a little bit sweet, a little bit tangy, overall very pleasant. Not something original or one of a kind perfume but very easy to wear. Not offensive for office or class but not too boring for night out either.

For the first few seconds I get a little masculine feeling from it.  After that it develops into something more girly, tropical, sweet, and sexy. Maybe the passionfruit gives me the tropical vibe. Finally it settles into this light musky scent. Overall I really enjoy this perfume.

What kind of woman wearing this fragrance?A bombshell of course! fun, confident, sexy, the Rosie Huntington-Whiteley type of girl :D

How about the longevity and sillage?I’m going to say that this fragrance has moderate longevity on me. It stays strong for the first hour or two and then it start to fade away. I feel like I need to re-spray after 4 hours or so.  Sillage is medium to me. Not too close to the skin, not radiates for a far length either

Would it be my signature scent?Just like my Versace Bright Even though this is a nice fragrance, I have no desire to always use it during my lifetime :)

Price? got it in Melboune Airport for $ AUD 57 for 50 ml/1.7 FL OZ

Another positive thing about this perfume is the bottle, it just so pretty! my picture doesn't do the justice :)

I hope this review would be helpful to you. Have you ever tried Bombshell? what is your favorite perfume from Victoria's Secret? tell me on the comment below
