Review: Guerlain Meteorites Compact UV Shield Pressed Powder SPF 35 No. 00 Blanc de Perle

Hi ladies,

Today I will do a review on this Guerlain Meteorites Compact UV Shield Pressed Powder, I got it recently when I was in Bangkok, in Suvarnabhumi International Airport to be exact. This is what Guerlain claim:

A must-have product, Guerlain's Météorites Compact UV Shield is the perfect ally for optimal protection against pollution, and touches of radiance and matity. Its unique formula contains the Urban Protect Complex which helps to protect the skin from pollution and urban stress, that cause dark spots and dull skin. Enriched with anti-humidity powders and boasting an ultra-fine texture, it ensures that the complexion stays matte and flawless in all circumstances. Its immaculate white shade creates a fresh, incredibly translucent complexion.

  •             An anti-UV & anti-pollution pressed powder
  •         With an anti-humidity, long-wearing formula
  •         Contains Urban Protect Complex, a blend of UVA/UVB sun filters & detoxifying agents
  •         Helps protect the skin from pollution & urban stress
  •              Instantly corrects skin irregularities & imperfections
  •               Infused with a delicate sensuous violet scent
  •        Gives a matte, fresh, flawless & radiant finish
  •              Encased in a portable mirrored compact ideal for touch-ups

This powder caught my attention because of the packaging. I have a weakness for elegant, expensive looking packaging. This Guerlain compact powder just exudes Parisian Chic! It is a sleek silver round compact with flower carving on the lid. Too bad it turns out to be made of plastic. Light and slippery, so be careful when you hold it. The compact is protected with a velvet grey pouch, I believe to prevent scratch. I personally find the pouch very useful. But be careful when you tote this product inside your purse, the powder itself is very soft, delicate, and break easily.

The product itself is a white pressed powder. I thought it would be like MAC Blot Powder; transparent, no pigment, just absorbs oil, and gives a matte appearance. Turns out it is quite pigmented. White pigment to be exact. If you have medium to dark skin tone this product might give you a chalky unnatural appearance. If you have light skin this product will enhance your natural tone, gives you brighter, paler, angelic look.

Texture is smooth and easy to apply, a little goes a long way. I find that if I use a little on my forehead and nose, my face instantly becomes brighter. If used too much, it looks like a mask. So be gentle with the application.

It has a strong violet powdery scent, for me it is quiet strange how come a small amount of powder could smell so strong?  Thankfully the scent doesn’t linger for long.  Never been a fan of violet scented things.

Oil control ability is average, no product can control my oily face anyway. It gives me a fresh matte looking skin for one or two hours. The good thing is this powder contains SPF 35, it alwash needed to give your face another layer of protection (don’t forget to use separate sunscreen).

Overall I enjoy this powder, especially for touch up. But I won’t purchase again because I still want to try another pretty looking pressed powder. If you have any experience with this powder please let me know in the comment below.

Price: Bht 1,740 (around Rp 661.200,-) I got mine in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport
