Luxury High-end Lip Balm Review

Hi everyone,
As many of you are aware by now I do enjoy luxurious lip balm. For some people high-end lip balm would be considered as a waste of money. As for me, expensive lip balms are not a must have but enjoyable treats from time to time.

Below are reviews of my high-end lip balm collection.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care

Description: This Chanel lip balm packed in beautiful minimalist black and white pot. The texture itself is tad sticky but still comfortable. It goes on completely transparent and a little bit glossy when applied to the lips. This lip balm delivers the moisturizing benefits of Camellia oil and Polyfractioned Active, an ultra-pure, ultra-powerful ingredient created through exclusive patented Chanel technology.
Pro: Beautiful packaging, helps softens and smoothes my lips, pretty fruity floral scent.
Con: No SPF and not as deeply hydrating as I wish but good enough for people who experience normal  to mild dryness.
Where to buy: I got mine at Don Mueang Airport, Bangkok. The price was Bath 1,150 (around Rp 448.500,- )

Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm

Description: Contains Essential Rose Wax, Shea Butter, Rice Oil extract, Ceramides, and Maxi Lip™ complex to nourish, protect, and plumpen the lips. Packed in blue squeeze tube, It has a sheer pink tint, rich texture, a little bit sticky, and extra glossy.
Pro: Works really well in hydrating dry chapped lips, one layer could last a long time. Has a faint smell of rose.
Con: No SPF.
Where to buy: It was Rp 270.000,- at Galeries Lafayette, Pacific Place Jakarta

La Mer The Lip Balm

Description: La Mer The Lip Balm has some serious gorgeous texture. Creamy, glides on easily like a warm butter, non sticky, and leaves a matte finish. It helps softens roughness, relieve discomfort and help rejuvenate lips. Contains a potent concentration of La Mer's nutrient-rich Miracle Broth™ and Lip Lipid Complex to protect and strengthens lips' moisture barrier.
Pro: Sinks in easily, flavored with cool refreshing mint, tastes a little bit sweet which is amazing, beautiful texture with matte finish that works well under any lipsticks.
Con: No SPF and because it sinks in easily, it might not stays on long enough for seriously chapped lips.
Where to buy: Sogo, Plaza Senayan, Jakarta. It was Rp 800.000,-

By Terry Baume de Rose

Description: Packed in exquisite glass jar, By Terry Baume de Rose contains pure rose essential wax to smoothes away roughness, while shea butter doubles the formula's moisturizing powers, bio-ceramides undo the look of fine lines, and lipid spheres help skin retain hydration. The texture has similarity with the Chanel Hydra Beauty Plus, tad sticky but still comfortable. The difference is Baume de Rose is a little bit softer and Chanel  is a little bit harder on the jar. It gives a little glossy finish and works as a luxe nail treatment for dry cuticles.
Pro: SPF 15, beautiful powdery rose scent, rich texture to softens and smoothes my lips.
Con: none!
Where to buy: I got mine at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Hongkong. It was HKD 610 ( around Rp 1.055,300,-)

Estee Lauder Lip Conditioner

Description: I got this deluxe sample size pot inside Estee Lauder gift bag. A soothing moisture treat for your lips. It creates a sheer satin finish. The lip-caring formula hydrates, smooths and comforts lips. Includes Vitamins C and E, Shea Butter and other naturally derived moisturizers. Wear it two ways: Apply under lipstick as a moisturizing base coat. Or wear it overnight as an intensive moisture treatment.
Pro: SPF 15.
Con: Boring lipsticky smell. Really hard on the pot, I have to scrape of the top layer. Not as moisturizing as the others. Am I getting a bad product here?
Where to buy: Estee Lauder Counter. I got mine for free inside the gift bag.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment

Description: famous for its ultra-nourishing and protective benefits, sublime texture, and iconic citrus flavor. Packed in twisted tube, it is very convenient to carry around. Gives a satin slightly glossy finish when applied on the lips.
Pro: refreshing sugary lemon scent, SPF 15, texture is just right for me, not to slippery not too thick, packed in a twisted tube that easy to carry around, moisturize really well, available in so many tinted versions which are as lovely (if not more!) as the original.
Con: easily melt inside the tube when expose to hot condition
Where to buy: I bought several times in Sephora Bangkok or Sephora Singapore. Last time I got mine in Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Hongkong for HKD 210 ( around Rp 363.300,).

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm

Description: with Honey and precious oils is highly concentrated in ingredients that help to nourish, repair, soothe and protect even the driest and damaged lips. At least 79,5% of the lip balm ingredients are natural, Paraben free formula to pamper your lips with high quality care. If you prefer slippery or buttery texture lip balm that melts on your lips then this product is not for you. It has thick waxy texture with fine grains to mildly exfoliate in it. It feels dry but rich, matte but moisturizing, such a contradiction. Too bad it has no sun protection in it so I mostly use it as night time treatment. Do not expect Nuxe Reve de Miel in stick formula to be the exact same of Nuxe Reve de Miel in the pot. They are completely gives different texture, feel, smell, and finish.
Pro: Matte finish that works well applied under lipstick, yummy honey smell.
Con: No SPF. Some might find the texture somewhat gritty, too waxy and just ‘sit’ on top the lips.
Where to buy: I got mine for Rp 249.000,- at Galeries Lafayette, Pacific Place Jakarta

So which one is my favourite? It is hard to pick only one so I will give you 4 recommendations. Fresh and By Terry for day. La Mer and Clarins for night. That’s my top 4 in no particular order.

In the future I would love to try Dior Creme De Rose, Tatcha, Sisley, Glossier, La Prairie, and Charlotte Tilburry. Do you have any other favourite and recommendation? Sound of in the comment below. I would love to hear from you.
