2015 Favourite French Pharmacy Beauty Products

Hi everyone, today I would like to share with you my favorite French Pharmacy beauty products. Product showed here divided into two categories, long time favorites that I bought all over again and newbie product that I will definitely repurchase in the future.

Currently, along with Korean skincare craze, French pharmacy products are also rising up in popularity. Hopefully this post can give you some ideas about what to buy if someday you have a chance to visit City Pharma in Paris! (Thanks to globalization, international trade, and internet, you can order these products through your trusted online shop!)

Let’s get started.

L-R: La Roche Rosay Effaclar Duo - Avene Thermal Water Spray - Caudalie Beauty Elixir - Nuxe Huile Prodiguise - Nuxe Reve de Miel - Caudalie Divine Oil - Vichy Normaderm

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo

This Effaclar Duo is a dual action acne treatment lotion that reduces the number and severity of acne blemishes. Penetrates clogged pores to clear blackheads and whiteheads. Contains: Micronized Benzoyl Peroxide [5.5%]: A Powerful acne medication in a unique micronized format to penetrate pores and clear blemishes and Micro-exfoliating LHA for precise cell-by-cell exfoliation to smooth roughness and gradually even skin texture.

Lately, due to stress and hormonal change I have some cystic acne. They are swollen, red, painful, and deep under my skin. They also don’t have the regular acne ‘white spot’ where you can easily pop it. Cystic acne is truly annoying. I use this La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo all over my face and more on the cyst. The results are slow but it works! After a week or two, my cystic acne reduced tremendously in size and they are not terribly scaring.

Mind you, usually the strongest acne medication from my Erha dermatologist also took me 1-2 weeks to reduce cystic acne. They also gave me flakey and dry skin. This La Roche Posay is not drying nor irritating at all. My skin still looks normal after constant use.

For your information, the Effaclar Duo that I use is "made in French", the gentler one that can be used all over the face. I heard that the Effaclar Duo that "made in USA" or "made in UK" should only be used as spot treatment. Read the labels carefully if you got Effaclar Duo. I got mine when I was in Hongkong, it was HKD 260 at Mannings Drugstore, Hysan Place. I will definitely repurchase in the future. I don’t want to be without it.

Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1 Cleanser

This amazing product can be used as facial cleanser, exfoliator, and mask. It contains unique combination of salicylic acid to remove impurities and excess sebum, glycolic acid to smoothes and evens the skin plus 25% clay with a soothing agent to mattifies the skin for a clear complexion. It is also allergy tested, non comedogenic, soap-free, paraben-free, alcohol-free and oil-free.

Massage on a damp skin to cleanse and exfoliate. Leave on clean dry skin for 10 to 20 minutes as a mask treatment. Skin feels clean and super soft. Suitable for oily-acne prone skin. It is rare for me to get excited about face cleanser but this Vichy one is truly wonderful. I got mine when I was in Mannings Drugstore in Hongkong. At that time price was around HKD 152. I will buy this product again in the future.

Avene Thermal Water

I read on some blogs that said French women use thermal water as final rinse after face washing process to remove residue of hard tap water in French. I follow the example and already finished several big cans of Avene Thermal Water. It will not suddenly perform magic and changing the condition of your skin but slowly I can see the result after months of usage. My oily-acne prone skin looks fresher, clearer and overall better. Maybe tap water quality in my city is also bad? Who knows? Fellow Indonesian residence could get this product on selected drugstores like Guardian and Watson.

Caudalie Divine Oil

Yes, according to some French bloggers, Caudalie products are available in most pharmacies in French (jealous!). The last time I got this product was in Sephora Bangkok. In United States and Asian countries Caudalie usually sold in Sephora with high-end price tags (thanks tax!). This multi-purpose oil contains grape oil to rejuvenates and nourishes. Extra virgin argan oil to restores hydrolipidic film. Sesame oil to softens and moisturizes, and patented grape seed polyphenols as potent anti-oxdidant.

I already finish a big bottle of this oil and save this baby bottle for special occasion. I started to introduce anti-oxidant on my skincare routine and Caudalie with polyphenols as their champion ingredients really suits my skin needs. I mostly use it as body oil and face treatment. It feels very luxurious and creates this beautiful glow. I seriously need to buy this more.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

This part-toner, part-serum mist contains essential oils and plant active ingredients that smooths the skin, tightens the pore, and provides an instant radiance. It has no paraben, no sulfates, and no phthalates. At first it smells weird to me, like a mixture of grape, wine, and herbs. But after sometimes I grow to enjoy the smell. I use it on clean skin or when I experience motion sickness (long car and airplane travel are not fun). My favorite method to use this product is to spray some on my hand, warm it between my two palms, and press them all over my face.  It is seriously amazing. The last time I got this product was in Sephora Bangkok. I almost run out of this product and I need to get more.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is a multipurpose dry oil for hair, face, nail, and body. It has heavenly scents that I have never smelled before. The 100 ml spray glass bottle is gorgeous and has a ‘high-end’ look to it.

So far I like it best to use as body oil. It gives a soft silky feeling that I never experienced with any other oils before. My skin looks healthy and glowing. It moisturized well with a blend of Vitamin E and 6 precious oils like Borage, St. John's Wort, Sweet Almond, Camellia, Hazelnut and Macadamia. I got my 100 ml bottle for Rp 499.000,- at Galeries Lafayette, Pacific Place Jakarta. You can also get it on Luxola.co.id

Nuxe Reve de Miel

I have this product reviewed before along with my other favorite lipbalm. It has honey and precious oils is highly concentrated in ingredients that help to nourish, repair, soothe and protect even the driest and damaged lips. At least 79,5% of the lip balm ingredients are natural, paraben free formula to pamper your lips with high quality care.

If you prefer slippery or buttery texture lip balm that melts on your lips then this product is not for you. It has thick waxy texture with fine grains to mildly exfoliate in it. It feels dry but rich, matte but moisturizing, such a unique concept, such a contradiction. Do not expect Nuxe Reve de Miel in stick formula to be the exact same of Nuxe Reve de Miel in the pot. They are completely gives different texture, feel, smell, and finish. I got mine for Rp 249.000,- at Galeries Lafayette, Pacific Place Jakarta. You can also get it at Luxola.co.id

Klorane Dry Shampoo

Dry shampoo is my must have product. I seriously cannot live without dry shampoo. I currently do not have this Klorane in my collection but along with Batiste Dry Shampoo, Klorane is truly works on refreshing my oily limp hair without left any white residue. I have full review of this dry shampoo here.

So that’s all my current French Pharmacy favourites. I will definitely try more French Pharmacy products in the future. Do you have other recommendations? What French Pharmacy beauty products that you would love to try? Sound of in the comment below. Thanks for stopping by and have a great
